Paul Scholes gives blunt verdict on covering Manchester United's defeat to Man City

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has described covering Sunday's 6-3 derby day defeat to Manchester City as a pundit as being "w***."

United, who made the short trip to the Etihad Stadium on a run of four consecutive Premier League victories, were outclassed by their cross-city rivals, finding themselves 4-0 down by half time. Phil Foden and Erling Haaland each scored twice before the interval, leaving Erik ten Hag's side with a mountain to climb.

The Reds, albeit in vein, threatened a comeback after the break, pulling a goal back through a stunner from Antony, but Haaland netted his third and City's fifth to pile more misery on what was already a very sparse away end. Foden then added a sixth to complete the rout.

United did ensure that the scoreline had a more respectable look to it come the full time whistle, scoring twice late on through substitute Anthony Martial. However, it did little to cover up a shambolic day at the office.

And for former United ace Scholes, the result left him absolutely furious, as to be expected. He was covering the match as a TV pundit for Premier League Productions and he made it very clear just how much he did not enjoy his afternoon in a social media post.

Scholes said: "Brilliant that, lads, really enjoyed it... @stevebower22, @themichaelowen, @shaunwp98.... w***!!!!"
