Paul Rowley gives James Greenwood injury update as he bemoans sloppy Salford Red Devils

Paul Rowley gave a blunt verdict on his side's performance after Salford Red Devils crashed out of the Challenge Cup. The Reds boss bemoaned their discipline with the ball, which ultimately gave them no chance of winning the game.

Though some calls worked against the Red Devils, with Liam Marshall's second try a talking point, Rowley insisted they never gave themselves an opportunity to win the game.

"Fifteen errors I think we made so if you don't respect possession you won't come to Wigan and get a victory," he told Premier Sports. "I don't think it was a great game, I don't think either side's attack was great. Before the game, I get asked about handling Jai Field and I thought we dealt with him very well, the edges went well but in the middle, we were rolled from start to finish, we made too many errors and it went from there."

It's part of the journey, we won't waiver in our belief and go again. We were the master of our own downfall tonight, I don't want to overcomplicate it, 15 errors with the ball is not good enough."

Rowley did save praise for Brodie Croft and Salford's outside backs before shifting the focus on their Super League game with Wakefield Trinity next week. Meanwhile, Rowley confirmed James Greenwood was set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being helped from the field after a tackle by Tommy Leuluai.
