Paul Pogba has already given his verdict on his second spell with Manchester United as he officially leaves the club.

United announced on their social media channels on Wednesday that the Frenchman would be departing Old Trafford at the culmination of his contract this month. In a statement, the club said: "Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.

"We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey." Despite all the fan fair surrounding his return to Manchester, Pogba won only a League Cup and Europa League in his second spell at the Theatre of Dreams.

On the international stage, Pogba gained more success though having won the World Cup with France in 2018. An accusation often levelled at the midfielder is that he performed better with the French than he did at Old Trafford and Pogba alluded to this back in March.

"The truth has to be said - here have been difficult times, especially when I was at Manchester," Pogba told Telefoot via ESPN. "When I haven't played or when the results weren't there, coming here [the French squad] gives me a boost.

"It's difficult because a lot has happened, from the change in manager to my injury. We're no longer fighting for a title, so it's neutral.

"I want to win titles, I want to play for something. Whether it be this year or even the previous ones, we haven't won anything.

"That's what's sad, in the end." He finished the interview by discussing his hopes to finish the season strongly however that failed to materialise.
