Paul Parker names two 'positives' he saw in Man Utd duo during Liverpool loss

Paul Parker was impressed with Jadon Sancho and Hannibal Mejbri’s cameos during Manchester United’s humiliating defeat to Liverpool.

United suffered a 4-0 loss to their arch rivals as Mohamed Salah (2), Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane all found the net and made light work of the visitors’ defence.

Phil Jones was taken off at half-time with the Red Devils already two goals down in place of Sancho while 19-year-old Mejbri was handed some rare minutes off the bench towards the end of the game.

Former United defender Parker was impressed with the duo’s impact on the team amid a host of poor individual performances from Ralf Rangnick’s side.

‘I would say when (Jadon) Sancho came on and also that the lad named Hannibal Mejbri (as the positives from the game),’ he told bettingexpert.

‘When he (Hannibal Mejbri) came on, he chased the ball around and got into a few fights, and he’s upset a few Liverpool players. It wasn’t so much about football as it was taking on a young lad to show appetite. Which is quite embarrassing really.

‘I think he somehow figured out how big the game was and he took it upon himself to work hard. It wasn’t the case of getting picked. He wanted to work hard and make a point.

‘It’s just a shame really that he didn’t come out earlier, he never got an opportunity to do it in the game against Norwich and come on then. But, yeah, he was a massive positive.

‘It says a lot ‘cause I think he came in the last 10 to 15 minutes. So that tells you how well the lad has done.’

Mejbri was making only his second appearance for United but in the short time he had on pitch he got stuck in with challenges on Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Andy Robertson.
