Paul Merson changes mind over Premier League title prediction for Man City

Football pundit Paul Merson has made a fresh prediction about Manchester City's chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

The former England international says he was impressed by Arsenal's performance against Liverpool at Anfield, where they managed to draw against Jurgen Klopp's side, unlike last season when they let their lead slip, sparking off a run of four games without a win that killed all remaining hope of hunting City down in the title race.

Merson noticed a big change in Mikel Arteta's team this time around, with three new players making a significant impact - and shared his belief that one new signing could be key to helping the Gunners topple City.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "I think Liverpool might think they should've shaded it in the second half but I thought it was a proper game of football, end to end, both teams wanting to win and played at an electric pace Arsenal are a different team now, they learnt a lot last season and putting Declan rice has taken them to another level in my opinion."

He added: "I think they go on and win it now. My mate said Arsenal would win the league at the start of the season but I said 'nah'. I think they would've rolled over last season and gone and got beat by four or five but they didn't, they hung in there and I think they could've nicked it."
