When Kai Havertz completed a £71million move to Chelsea in the summer of 2020, there were huge expectations placed on the German's young shoulders. The 22-year-old came to England as one of the most sought-after young talents in European football after impressing in the Bundesliga.

Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, who signed Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen almost two years ago, explained at the time just why the club were so desperate to bring him in. Lampard said: "I've loved him for a long time as a player since he came through.

"He's a different player to what I was but, when it's an attacking midfielder that scores goals, obviously I certainly sit up and take notice. His style is very unique, he's 6ft 2ins plus, which is a great help in the modern day to have tall players in forward areas like that but the most important thing about him is his natural quality of receiving the ball and talent on the ball and calmness and quality and he arrives to score goals."
