Paul Kelly named as new Tipperary manager
Paul Kelly has been appointed Tipperary senior football manager for a three-year term following a meeting of the county's management committee on Tuesday evening.
Kelly had been linked to a number of inter-county posts in recent months, including those in Laois and Offaly, but the Dubliner will now succeed David Power as the Premier County manager.
The Thomas Davis clubman led his side to a first Dublin club final appearance in 28 years in 2019, where they lost out to Ballyboden-St Enda's, before a spell in charge of Naas.
Kelly's most recent role saw him serve as part of Wicklow's backroom team as the Garden County gained promotion from Division 4, while he also boasts a wealth of managerial experience at minor level and in the women's game.
Hugh Kenny and Paddy O'Connor have been named as selectors, with Adrian O'Brien, Michael O'Sullivan, Paul Fitzgerald and Michael Byrnes comprising the remainder of the new backroom team.
Tipperary football committee chairman Conor O'Dwyer said of the appointments: "I am delighted with the management team we have put in place for the next three years.
"All involved bring a wealth of experience across all aspects of football coaching and management and places Tipperary football in a strong position to progress and prosper.
"In particular, in Paul Kelly, I believe we have a man with the footballing experience, organisational ability and passion to succeed, to successfully lead Tipperary football over the next few years.
"We wish him and his team well as they start out on this journey and will do all we can to support them along the way."
The Tipperary management ticket will be ratified at the next county committee meeting.
