Paul Gascoigne 'rushed to hospital after collapsing at home'
Football icon Paul Gascoigne has reportedly been taken to hospital after being discovered semi-conscious at his residence on Friday.
Emergency services attended the England legend's property and transported him to Poole Hospital, where he was placed in intensive care.
The 58-year-old is understood to be out of immediate danger and in a stable condition, though he remains hospitalised and has been transferred to an acute medical ward. Medical staff expect him to stay for several more days whilst receiving ongoing treatment, reports the Daily Star.
The former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder was discovered by his friend Steve Foster. Speaking to The Sun, Foster revealed that Gascoigne would "like to thank everyone for the support he's received so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best."
Foster continued: "Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now."
Gascoigne's daughter Bianca, known for appearing on major reality programmes including the original Love Island, Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity Coach Trip, is being kept fully informed about her father's medical situation.
Former teammates including Vinnie Jones, Paul Merson, Chris Waddle and Peter Beardsley are also receiving regular bulletins on his progress, The Sun reports.
The health emergency follows the closure of his personal business at the beginning of July.
