Paul Gascoigne reveals incredible act of generosity from Man Utd icon Sir Alex Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson once gave Paul Gascoigne one of his watches despite the England icon's decision to snub Manchester United for Tottenham Hotspur.
Gascoigne famously chose Spurs over the Red Devils back in 1988, stunning Ferguson, who had gone on holiday under the impression that he would be greeted by the midfielder upon his return to Old Trafford. Despite opting to play under Terry Venables at White Hart Lane, where he became a club icon and enjoyed some of his best footballing days, Ferguson remained an admirer of the cheeky Geordie.
The 82-year-old has previously admitted that Gascoigne is one of the players he regrets not being able to sign all those years ago. While the ex-Newcastle United midfielder said Ferguson does like to insert a cheeky dig at his transfer decision, a chance meeting with the Scotsman suggests there is still plenty of respect and admiration for him.

While speaking on the 'Rest is Football' podcast, Gascoigne said: "A couple of years ago I went to watch Man Utd play - I think it was Chelsea. He [Ferguson] was in the lounge. A guy come up and said 'Sir Alex Ferguson wants to see you in the office'. I just started panicking.
"He would still give you a bollocking like: 'You didn't sign for me' and I'm like 'I know, I know'. He'd still give us a bollocking, but he did give us one of his watches, so that was good."
