Patrick Vieira asked about Crystal Palace interest in Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Patrick Vieira refused to discuss the possibility of Crystal Palace re-signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United, as Erik ten Hag said the defender will not be leaving Old Trafford this summer.

Palace are believed to have declared their interest in Wan-Bissaka early in the transfer window but are only prepared to offer a fee of £10million for a player they sold to United for £45million in 2019. Vieira was asked about his side's transfer business ahead of tomorrow's deadline.

He said: "We will need to do some, yes. We need more players, more competition, more options, we need different profile of players and we will try to do it. I know that we are doing our best. If we find a player that we want, we will see if we can make it happen."

Pushed specifically on both Conor Gallagher and Wan-Bissaka, the Frenchman was tight-lipped.

Vieira said: "I don’t want to talk about Conor; Conor is a Chelsea player. Until Chelsea say otherwise, there is no point to mention his name because he came here, he spent a year and he did fantastically well and today he is a Chelsea player.

On Wan-Bissaka, he added: "You can give me 100 names and it will be always be the same answer."

It appears it is no longer on the cards for Wan-Bissaka to return to his former club, however, after Ten Hag said he will be staying put. "Of course, Aaron is still in and will stay in," Ten Hag said ahead of United's trip to Leicester on Thursday. "So this squad, we will go from September to minimum January, but we will play with this squad this season."
