Patrick Vieira aims dig at Roy Keane and says he 'doesn't want to touch' Manchester United shirt

Patrick Vieira couldn’t resist aiming a cheeky dig at Roy Keane after being presented with the former Manchester United captain's shirt.

Keane and Vieira enjoyed a classic rivalry during their time at United and Arsenal, respectively. The pair had a number of run-ins as the two sides did battle for the Premier League title year after year.

Their rivalry reached boiling point in 2005 when they clashed in the tunnel at Highbury. Keane confronted Vieira after the Arsenal captain had targeted Gary Neville.

The pair have put their feud to bed since retiring and have appeared together on a number of occasions to look back at their various bust-ups. However, neither have ever missed an opportunity to fire a dig at the other.

It was Vieira’s turn as he appeared on BT Sport’s What I Wore, in which he took a look back on his career through the various shirts he wore and came up against. Amongst them was one of Keane’s United tops, with Vieira offering up some kind words for his old adversary.

“From the first game, I knew straight away that it will be a fight in every single game,” Vieira said.

“I love the way he was on the field, there’s a massive respect and he was the leader, captain of the team, he was the one who was driving the team and the players to compete at the level. He was pushing the players and I admire him as a captain and I knew that will be one of the battles to try to win.”

Vieira still managed to target a cheeky swipe at Keane. Asked whether he was better than the former United captain, the Arsenal legend joked: “Much better, yes. I will say much better.”
