Patrick Beverley Claps Back At JJ Redick Over Doc Rivers Diss: 'He Saved Your Career'

NBA player Patrick Beverley and former player JJ Redick are going at it on X: trading social media barbs over Bucks head coach Doc Rivers.

Beverley supported his coach after Redick issued a scathing rebuke of Doc — amid Milwaukee's struggles to find their footing with Rivers at the helm.

Keep in mind that Milwaukee dumped its first-year coach after a 30-13 start. The organization had issues with Griffin's command of the defense. And despite seeing a bump in defensive efficiency under Doc, the Bucks are tallying losses along the way, going 3-7 in the last 10 games.

Speaking on Doc via First Take on Tuesday morning, Redick condemned Rivers after the coach questioned his team's focus, saying some of his guys were mentally "in Cabo" (i.e., on vacation) and failing to hold himself ‘accountable’ for Milwaukee's recent backsliding.

"Doc, we get it. Taking over a team in the middle of the season is hard… just like getting traded in the middle of the season is hard for a player. We get it," Redick said. "But it's always an excuse. It's always throwing your team under the bus."

He added, "Then you look at his quotes over the weekend; now he wants to take credit for the James Harden trade to the Clippers working out? He wants credit for that? There's never accountability with that guy."

Patrick Beverley, acquired by the Bucks ahead of the trade deadline, caught Redick's comments and defended his coach.

Redick previously played under Rivers, as part of the Los Angeles Clippers, from 2013 to 2017.
