St Patrick's Athletic reveal US investors, including NFL quarterback Joe Flacco

St Patrick's Athletic have announced that US-based Kenosis Sports Group, which counts NFL star Joe Flacco among its investors, has become a "strategic investor" in the League of Ireland side.

The Inchicore club did not disclose the level of investment from the subsidiary of Kenosis Capital, an American financial advisory and private equity firm.

Quarterback Flacco (39), who is expected to play a 17th year in the NFL in 2024, won the Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013.

St Pat's also said that former Minnesota Vikings players Matty Birk and Chad Greenway, and New York Islanders ice-hockey star Anders Lee are also involved.

The Saints will travel to the US for a friendly against MLS side Minnesota United in St Paul later this month that they called "the first step in St Patrick's Athletic's expansion into the US".

A statement from chairman Garrett Kelleher said: "We are pleased to welcome Kenosis Sports Group including Joe Flacco, Chad Greenway, Matt Birk and Anders Lee, amongst others, as strategic investors in St Patrick's Athletic.

"Joe, Chad, Matt and Anders have had decorated careers in the NFL and NHL and have a keen interest in football.

"We have been working with KSG, a subsidiary of Kenosis Capital, in setting our upcoming game versus Minnesota United on March 20th and believe this is the first step in St Patrick's Athletic's expansion into the US."
