Parker named as new Burnley coach

Burnley have appointed Scott Parker as their new coach, the Championship club said on Friday.

Parker, who secured two promotions to the Premier League previously with Fulham and Bournemouth, most recently coached Belgian side Club Brugge in the 2022-23 season.

"For us to be successful this year is the most important thing," former England midfielder Parker told the club website.

"We have to win and build a team the fans and club can be proud of. This team can represent every single one of them in that aspect and that's the aim."

Burnley were relegated from the Premier League last season having finished 19th in the standings, marking a second relegation from the top flight in three seasons for the club.

"We are thrilled to welcome Scott to Burnley Football Club," said chairman Alan Pace. "His vision for the future aligns with our goals and ambitions of returning to the Premier League as soon as possible."
