Paris 2024: Irish in action on Day 1 of Olympic Games

It's the first day (officially at least) of the greatest show in sport and Irish competitors are in action across ten different disciplines at Paris 2024.

Eventing rider Sarah Ennis is up first at 8.48am in the dressage phase of that three-part equestrian format while world champion gymnast Rhys McClenaghan will close the day by getting back on the pommel horse some time after 8.30pm.

Ryan Mullen is the only Irish competitor who could finish the day on the podium: he's out in the men's cycling time trial just after 3.30pm.

You can follow the Olympic Games action all day with our live tracker on RTÉ Sport Online and the RTÉ News app, watch live from 9.15am-10.30pm on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player, and listen to updates on RTÉ Radio 1 and 2fm.
