Paper birds carrying REAL £10 notes will be released across Manchester today

Hundreds of paper birds containing real cash are being flown out across Manchester TODAY. People walking around the city centre are being urged to look out for origami hummingbirds which will be carrying £10 in cash throughout Thursday, October 19.

The promotion is being run by the website TopCashback who say it's in a bid to help people in Manchester "kick start their Christmas spending pots". Alongside the no-strings bank note, there will also be a £15 voucher that people can redeem on the money saving website too.

Hundreds of the hummingbirds will be released in major Manchester city centre locations like St Peter's Square, Piccadilly Gardens and Market Street. In total £2,500 in cash is being given away here, while the same promotion is taking place in Birmingham and London city centres too.

TopCashBack announced the news saying: "To help people in Manchester kick-start their Christmas spending pots, this week hundreds of origami hummingbirds carrying £10 in cash will fly over the streets of Manchester.

"TopCashback is giving away £7,500 worth of savings for UK consumers to add to their Christmas budget. Those who find the birds can also redeem an additional £15 when shopping over 6,000 brands through TopCashback."

The campaign comes as new research found that Christmas 2023 is set to be one of the most frugal ever, with nearly half of UK adults (45 per cent) planning to cut their overall spend. Through the bird release, TopCashback says it aims to give UK consumers a helping hand to kick-start their
