Panicked Celtic diehards fear Brendan Rodgers may walk as Hotline clamps board for setting their own money trap
Rangers fans have poked fun at Jota’s tears but Celtic supporters have been left greeting on the Hotline after a damp squib deadline day.
Brendan Rodgers snapped up left back cover in Jeffrey Schlupp but missed out on a striker to replace Kyogo – to leave punters fuming. And some even think the manager would be entitled to walk away given the failure to deliver. Fraser Davison, Glasgow, said: “Two words spring to mind with our January transfer business - totally underwhelming. We needed a left back, defender and two strikers – and we got a so-called utility man from Crystal Palace.
"Is he going to cover all the positions in one game? Celtic have had months to prepare for this window knowing Kyogo was for the off and Greg Taylor can walk soon. Jota is a welcome return but we are nowhere near stronger coming out of this window as Rodgers said we would be.”
Paul Price, Glasgow, said: “What a disappointing transfer window, not just for Celtic, but also the fans. Questions need to be asked and answered regarding the inability to bring in quality signings, when the team clearly need’s fresh faces. I wonder if the boardroom dither as much when it comes to paying themselves hefty bonuses? The manager and the fans deserve answers.”
Jim Docherty emailed: “I am astonished that the debacle that is the Celtic board have failed once again to get their fingers out and deliver the players needed to finish this season. They keep on about their finances, so other clubs are entitled to ask for top dollar for players. Maybe Rodgers will walk as well. I've had enough.”
