Palma ability 'overestimated', Johnston spots Celtic parallel and £2.1m snub emerges – breaking Parkhead bulletin
Celtic winger Luis Palma has been slammed by the Honduran media for his displays while on international duty.
It has been a tough start to the 24-year-old having barely featured for the Scottish Premiership champions so far this term - making just two appearances coming off the bench for Brendan Rodgers' side. However, he made back-to-back starts for his country in the CONCACAF Nations League victory over Trinidad and Tobago and the defeat to Jamaica - with Steve McLaren's Reggae Boyz running out 2-1 winners.
Palma's display has been heavily criticised with former Honduras international Nerlin Membero stating to Diaz: "Sometimes we overestimate the individual abilities of the players. He plays well, he is a good player, with a good level and in a team that participates in the Champions League. He is going to grow, but to say that Palma is above the rest - no not yet. Even if he plays Champions League matches, much more is expected of him."
Pundit Eduardo Bennett also added: "You want him to score goals, he's not a 9, he's not a goalscorer, he's a 7 who can go over and assist on the left, he knows how to define, but that's not his potential. What I'm going to demand from Luis Palma is that he has to go over and face, make a difference on the flanks, overcome his rival and assist the attackers. I can't give him the responsibility of defining the games."
While there were swirls of Palma leaving Parkhead towards the end of the window, one man that did head for through the exit was Mikey Johnston on deadline day. And after joining West Brom he appears to already be imparting wisdom to rising stars - as he offered a comparison to his time in Glasgow's east end.
