Páirc Uí Rinn confirmed as venue for Cork v Kerry Munster clash

The Munster GAA Council has, as expected, officially ratified Páirc Uí Rinn as the venue for the upcoming Cork and Kerry SFC clash.

It brings to an end weeks of uncertainty over the venue for the provincial championship clash.

The game will be preceded by the meeting of Kerry and Tipperary in the LGFA championship.

Last week Kerry offered to play at Páirc Uí Rinn.

The game had been fixed for Killarney as Pairc Ui Chaoimh was not available.

With the county's main ground out of commission, the Cork players and management refused to play anywhere except Páirc Uí Rinn, but the provincial council stood by their decision to switch the clash to Killarney.

However, Kerry’s agreement to play at a Páirc Uí Rinn was a game changer late last week.

And tonight news of the game’s official status was confirmed.

"Tonight, the CCC of the Munster Council ratified Páirc Uí Rinn as the venue for the Munster Senior Football Semi Final between Cork and Kerry. The game will throw in at 6pm on May 7th," a statement read.

"This decision follows the agreement of Kerry County Board to Cork's request to set aside their longstanding home and away arrangement involving the venues of Fitzgerald Stadium and Páirc Uí Chaoimh for 2022 and to play this fixture in Páirc Uí Rinn."

Munster GAA confirmed that home and away arrangement will resume with the next game between the two counties in the Munster championship taking place at Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney and will alternate with Páirc Uí Chaoimh from then on.

Meanwhile, tickets for the 7 May clash will only be on sale through the county boards.

All Cork and Kerry season ticket holders will be entitled to a ticket.
