Padres' Tatis Jr. suspended 80 games for violating MLB's drug policy
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. has been suspended 80 games for violating Major League Baseball’s performance enhancing drug policy. Tatis Jr. tested positive for Clostebol, a PED substance.

The 23-year-old ha been suspended without pay and will be ineligible for the 2022 post season. His suspension will also carry into the 2023 season.
The Padres released the following statement on Friday:
"We were surprised and extremely disappointed to learn today that Fernando Tatis Jr. tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Prevention and Treatment Program and subsequently received an 80-game suspension without pay. We fully support the Program and are hopeful that Fernando will learn from this experience."
Tatis Jr. has yet to play a game in 2022 as he has been recovering from a fractured left wrist.
In 130 games last season, Tatis Jr. hit .282 with a National League leading 42 homers and 97 RBIs. He was selected to his first All-Star team and finished third in MVP voting.
