Padraig Harrington seals US Senior Open glory
Padraig Harrington won his first major on the Champions Tour with victory at the US Senior Open.
The 50-year-old carded a final-round 72 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to finish on 10 under, one shot clear of Steve Stricker, his US counterpart when he captained Europe at last year's Ryder Cup.
The three-time major winner had given himself a great chance of victory by posting a 66 on Saturday to build a five-shot lead on 11 under overnight but while that was whittled down to the bare minimum, the Dubliner was able to hold on and avoid a play-off.
Harrington bogeyed the second before birdies either side of another dropped shot on the seventh.
Consecutive bogeys at the start of the back nine saw him slip back before a birdie on the 15th steadied the ship.
Pars on the final three holes eventually ensured a narrow victory ahead of Stricker who had put himself in contention with a final-round 65.
