Paddy Tally to remain with Kerry

Kerry manager Jack O'Connor has received a boost as Paddy Tally is set to remain with the Kingdom for a third season.

There had been much speculation about the Tyrone man’s future, and on announcing O’Connor’s ratification for the season ahead Kerry GAA stated that he would "confirm his backroom team in due course", but RTÉ Sport understands that Tally will be in situ for the forthcoming 2024 season.

The Galbally native is one of the most highly-regarded coaches in the game currently and his influence was cited as a key reason for Kerry’s Sam Maguire triumph in 2022, their first since 2014.

The Munster side returned to the final last season where some errant shooting proved costly in a narrow defeat to Dublin.

O'Connor will stay on as manager of the Kerry senior footballers for two more years after being reappointed earlier this month at a county board meeting. He replaced Peter Keane on an initial two-year term in the autumn of 2021 and next year will go in search of a fifth All-Ireland as manager to go with the successes with Kerry in 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2022.

Stephen Molumphy was also ratified to manage the senior hurlers for another year with his backroom team to be confirmed at a later date.
