Oxford United 1-0 Swansea City: Fisher howler hands Swans first defeat of Duff era

Andy Fisher's first-half error handed Swansea City their first pre-season defeat under Michael Duff.

The Swans keeper couldn't hold on to Michael Browne's low drive after just seven minutes, on what was a mixed night for the visitors, who had previously been unbeaten this summer.

Given all four of their previous outings had been held behind closed doors, this was the first glimpse of the Duff era for the travelling Jack Army, and they were treated to a reasonably strong line-up for the first 60 minutes or so, with new signings Josh Key and Jerry Yates handed further minutes.

Despite the ongoing uncertainty around his future, Joel Piroe was also handed a start, producing another decent performance that would have been capped off with a goal had he managed to keep a free header on target late on.

It's difficult to really tell how much can really be read into this performance. Had it not been for Fisher's error, we might well be talking about a well-earned a work out, and another clean sheet.

Instead, there's a feeling there's still plenty of work to be done to get this team up to speed before the first ball of the new season is kicked. Duff himself would likely agree.

Swansea started this contest well. Ben Cabango powered an early header straight at Oxford keeper James Beadle, while Yates might well have opened his Swansea account had he got a more meaningful touch on Jay Fulton's teasing ball into the box.

Those in the away end might well have been satisfied with what they had seen in the opening five minutes or so. Those at home might have struggled to form any conclusions at all, with many experiencing technical issues with the club's live stream.

Then again, they should arguably consider themselves lucky for not getting
