Owen Hargreaves sends Manchester United warning ahead of Liverpool FC fixture

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes that his old club will be 'scared' to face Liverpool on Tuesday.

Both sides come into the fixture at Anfield off the back of 3-2 victories. United gained their victory at Old Trafford against Norwich City.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick to help his team survive a scare from the Canaries who had come from two goals down to be level at one stage. Liverpool's 3-2 victory over Man City meanwhile was rather more convincing.

The Merseyside club were 3-0 up before half time in the FA Cup semi final thanks to an Ibrahima Konate header and a brace from Sadio Mane. City regrouped in the second half and scored twice through Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva but it was too little too late.

A victory for either side would help them meet their aspirations this season. A United win would see them move level on points with Tottenham Hotspur who sit fourth while a Liverpool victory would return them to the top of the Premier League.

But speaking on Premier League Productions, Hargreaves admitted his old club could be dreading a trip to Merseyside. He explained: "Everybody is scared to play Liverpool.

"Even that Man City team, which is one of the best we have ever seen. They are hard to play against Liverpool. They go toe-to-toe with you. Everybody competes. The tactics. They never give up.

"Even when they lose they don’t play poorly. Man United will be fearful walking out at Anfield."
