Overwatch 2: How to unlock Ranked Play

Overwatch 2 is officially out and players are diving into the free-to-play shooter but fans are already asking the question about how to unlock ranked play!

The game has been a huge hit since its launch earlier this week and players are diving into the game and doing their best to rank up and climb the leaderboards.

Characters, of course, have been tweaked throughout the game, and there is something of a reimagining of the way that the game’s systems work.

Ranked play is naturally the place that the most competitive players are going to go to, as they aim to prove their worth and show they can win matches against the very best players in the game.

How exactly do you manage to unlock it, though? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

Ranked Play is not immediately available to players when they first log into Overwatch 2.

It’s a more full-on mode, naturally, than some of the more casual modes, such as Quick Play and Arcade.

But the way to unlock it is as follows.

Ranked Play will then unlock itself and give you the option to dive in and start going toe-to-toe with the very best OW2 players out there.

It should be said that the above guide is only applicable to new players as Blizzard have confirmed that players who reached Level 25 on Overwatch 1 will have immediate access to Ranked.

Blizzard, as per HITC, have explained that they have made the decision to force new players to unlock Ranked because it gives them time to “prepare for the higher expectations’ while not discouraging long-term players by grouping them with inexperienced teammates.”
