Ottawa Senators extend head coach Travis Green until 2031

The Ottawa Senators have extended head coach Travis Green into the next decade.

General manager and president of hockey operations Steve Staios said Monday Green is now signed until the end of the 2030-31 season.

Assistants including Nolan Baumgartner, Ben Sexton and Mike Yeo are also being extended multiple years, the team said. It did not share further details.

Green has head coaching experience with the Vancouver Canucks and the New Jersey Devils on an interim basis, along with minor and junior league time. He has nearly 1,000 NHL games experience as a player in the 1990s and 2000s.

The 55-year-old from B.C. is in his third season as Ottawa head coach. He made the playoffs in each of his first two seasons in the role.

"I have watched him implement systems and structures that have reinforced my belief in his coaching abilities," said Staios in a news release. "We share the same vision and philosophy and are confident we can continue to build on our team."
