Osimhen, Aribo retain jersey numbers as Yusuf gets Ndidi’s No. 4 shirt

African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen, will wear the number nine jersey that he has worn since taking over the Super Eagles’ main attacking position from Odion Ighalo in 2020.

The Napoli striker will likely be paired in the attack at the 2024 AFCON by Victor Boniface, who has been assigned the number 24 jersey. Joe Aribo retains his number 10 shirt, just as Skipper Ahmed Musa, who will wear the number seven jersey.

The goalkeepers, Francis Uzoho, Olorunleke Ojo and Stanley Nwabili have been assigned jersey numbers 1, 16 and 23 respectively, while defenders Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, Zaidu Sanusi, Kenneth Omeruo, Chidozie Awaziem, William Troost-Ekong, Bruno Onyemaechi, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Semi Ajayi will wear shirt numbers 2, 21, 3, 22, 20, 5, 13, 12 and 6 respectively.

For the midfielders, Alex Iwobi retains his number 17 shirt, Frank Onyeka will wear jersey number 8, Rafeal Onyedika has been assigned number 25 shirt, Alhassan Yusuf will wear number 4, just as forwards, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Sadiq Umar, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ademola Lookman will wear jersey numbers 11, 15, 19, 14 and 18 respectively.The players will wear the national team’s new Nike kits at the Cote d’Ivoire 2024 AFCON.
