Oscar Bobb makes surprising admission after promising performance in Man City win

Oscar Bobb wasn't happy with his performance in Manchester City's 5-3 win over Yokohama Marinos.

City got their pre-season off to a positive if at times sloppy start on Sunday in an entertaining game in Tokyo that was often challenging. The hosts are mid-way through their own league season so were in much better condition than Pep Guadiola's side, who have only been in training for a few days.

Yokohama went two goals ahead after taking advantage of poor defending but after the shock, City woke themselves up. John Stones got the ball rolling with a sweeping finish into the top corner before Julian Alvarez tapped home the leveller after Kalvin Phillips won the ball off the goalkeeper.

The break saw all outfielders changed and City took the ascendancy when Erling Haaland scored within his first three touches. Yet another Rodri rocket put them two ahead before a miscommunication between Rico Lewis and Stefan Ortega saw the lead halved.

But City restored their advantage in added time when Bobb linked well with the returning Joao Cancelo to set up Haaland for a tap-in at the far post. 20-year-old Bobb is one of the few youngsters to make the trip and he impressed in his 45 minutes.

He operated on the right wing and did all the good work Guardiola expected from his wide men, with good passing, positioning, skill and crossing. However, Bobb himself wasn't best pleased with his showing.

When asked by City's media team after the game if he thought he played well, Bobb replied: "Well... not really, not today. But keep going, keep training and new opportunities come."
