Orta considering Leeds bid for 'exciting' 83-goal forward who 'destroyed' major European league

Leeds United are considering an offer for Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe, according to The Mirror.

Pepe arrived in north London back in 2019 from Lille after contributing to 55 goals in 107 games for the French side. Talent scout Jacek Kulig said the forward ‘destroyed Ligue 1’, but as we know he has struggled in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has scored 16 times in 80 total top-flight appearances and started just five league games under Mikel Arteta last season.

Leeds are after a new attacking addition and were linked with Pepe recently, and it looks as if they are now weighing up a formal offer for the Ivorian.

The Mirror shared a story on six Arsenal flops that Arteta needs to sell this summer, one of which was Pepe.

They claimed that Leeds, along with Lyon, Marseille and Sevilla, are all considering a move for the player, who the Gunners would reportedly be happy to let go for £25m.

Pepe is primarily a right-winger who can also play in a central role if required and is into the final two years of his Gunners contract.

He’s been dubbed as ‘exciting’ by Granit Xhaka and has scored 83 goals for club and country throughout his career, however, Leeds have already brought in a replacement for Raphinha in Luis Sinisterra.

Therefore, the club could be better off looking to bring in a natural centre-forward instead of a winger, looking to find the right balance alongside Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt.
