Orta can ignite Marsch revolution as Leeds eye up 24 y/o gem who "cannot be defended" - opinion

Leeds United are interested in a deal to bring Noussair Mazraoui to Elland Road in the summer transfer window.

According to various reports from Calciomercato in Italy (via Sport Witness), the Whites are among the clubs monitoring the situation of the Ajax right-back, who is set to become available on a free transfer at the end of the current campaign.

The report added that Arsenal, AC Milan and Barcelona are also interested in a move for the 24-year-old, while Fabrizio Romano recently revealed on Twitter that the Catalan giants have gone as far as to submit a proposal to the Morocco international regarding a switch to Camp Nou.

Victor Orta could have his work cut out in order to get a deal for Mazraoui over the line this summer, but considering just how impressive the defender has been for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, it would seem advisable for Leeds’ sporting director to do all that he can to make the 24-year-old the first signing of Jesse Marsch’s reign at Elland Road.

Indeed, over his 21 Eredivisie appearances in the current campaign, the £18m-rated right-back has been in breathtaking form for De Godenzonen, scoring five goals, registering two assists and creating five big chances for his team-mates, along with averaging 1.5 key passes and 1.7 shots per game.

The £11k-per-week full-back has also impressed in metrics more typical of his position, helping Ajax to keep 11 clean sheets and averaging 0.9 interceptions, 1.9 tackles, 1.5 clearances, 47.8 passes and 6.2 successful duels per match.

These returns have seen the player who Dutch football pundit Arnold Bruggink claimed “cannot be defended” average a remarkable SofaScore match rating of 7.47, not only ranking him as Ajax’s third-best performer in the league
