Opinion: Six-figure prospect could be Celtic's Tom Rogic replacement

It has been reported that Celtic are close to signing Bayern Munich starlet Christopher Scott.

GhanaSoccerNet recently revealed that the Bhoys are close to meeting the £250,000 asking price for the player, who is just about to turn 20-years-old, who spent most of season 2021/22 playing in the fourth division of German football after being unable to make the breakthrough into the Bayern first-team.

The report also claims that Austria Klagenfurt are keen on signing the attacker, but that the Hoops are favourites to land the signing.

If Scott does join the Bhoys then it will be a bit of a step up playing in the German fourth division to playing in the Scottish Premiership, but if Ange Postecoglou thinks that the player can do a job for the Bhoys then he should be backed, as most of his signings for Celtic so far have turned out to be a success.

What could be behind Celtic’s pursuit of Scott is the fact that Tom Rogic departed the Hoops at the end of the season. Perhaps the Bayern Munich player has been earmarked as a potential replacement for the Australian.

As has already been said, Scott would likely have to up his game to replace Rogic in the Hoops squad, but as it stands Celtic don’t really have an attacking midfielder in the squad that can replace Rogic.

Should Scott join the Hoops then he could be that player, and even if he is half as good for Celtic that Rogic was, then the Hoops will have another good signing on the books.

The good news for Celtic if the deal goes ahead is that if the transfer doesn’t work out, then the club haven’t paid a lot of money for the deal if the report is to be believed.

On the other hand, should Scott turn out to be the start that Celtic hope he will be, then they could sell the player
