Opinion: Returning Celtic starlet's future at club needs to be resolved

Celtic have had a lot of injury issues this season, with Kyogo and David Turnbull currently on the long-term injury list.

However, there is one long-term injury victim who has just made his return for the Hoops. The National reported that Karamoko Dembele, who had been out of action since July, made his Hoops return for the Celtic B side in a Lowland League game against Vale of Leithen.

Dembele’s return is great news for the player, who must have been really upset at suffering an injury in pre-season at the age of just 18-years-old.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou couldn’t have been pleased about the matter, as Dembele could well have been involved in the Hoops first-team this season, if he had been fit.

Who knows, perhaps the player will feature for the Celtic first-team between now and the end of the season. He is certainly an option to be played on the wings at any rate, and with Mikey Johnston injured, the player could find himself in the Hoops squad soon if he can stay fit.

Now that Dembele is fit again attention has to turn towards his future at the club. The player’s contract expires at the end of the season, and as he is such a talented player, Celtic would no doubt like Dembele to agree a new deal with the Hoops.

It would be a smart move by the club to get a player like Dembele, who has a lot of potential, to agree to sign a new contract which will keep him at the club for the next few years.

If Demeble can fulfil his potential and become a Hoops first-team regular, he could follow in the footsteps of the likes of Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele by earning a big money move away from Celtic Park to one of the bigger leagues in Europe.
