Opinion: Jude Bellingham should be the next transformational signing at Liverpool

Liverpool have earned a reputation under Jurgen Klopp for being among the smartest recruiters in the Premier League.

So often when big money, or indeed any money, is spent, the expenditure ultimately is worthwhile and often soon looks like yet another bargain deal.

Recent examples such as the £8million spend on Andy Robertson and £41million on bringing Diogo Jota from Wolves, now appear to be incredibly shrewd pieces of business.

Whilst many of the incomings have been on the frugal side compared to rivals, there have been outliers. Namely the big-money deals to land Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Naby Keita and Fabinho.

These have since been dubbed as ‘transformational signings’, those that the club sees as necessary in order to take Jurgen Klopp’s side to the next level.
