Opinion: In eight days, Celtic's planning for 2022/23 will really begin

At the moment, Celtic fans are still basking in the glory of last season’s super title triumph, which saw the Hoops perhaps unexpectedly win the Premiership in Ange Postecoglou’s first season as Celtic manager.

That is perfectly understandable, as the Hoops enjoyed a truly great season, and when the club start to sell the official DVD review of the 2021/22 campaign, it could well be a big seller, as it really was a season to remember.

There is no doubt that behind the scene at the club, Celtic will be looking ahead to next season, but the planning will surely really start to begin in eight days time, on Friday the 17th of June at 9:00am, when the Premiership fixtures for season 2022/23 are released, with the first game to be played on the weekend of July the 30th/31st.

There will be a lot to discuss when the fixtures are released, as fans will no doubt look to when the Glasgow derbies are to be played first – Celtic will host the first derby of the season.

What will be different from last season though, is that fans will be able to check what games are before and after the Champions League group stage fixtures, as the Hoops are back in the group stages for the first time in five years.

There is also the impact of the World Cup, which will see the season take a break for a month between November and December, which will make season 2022/23 different from any that the Hoops have played in a long time.

After the fixtures are announced, the next thing to watch out for is what games are selected for live television, and hopefully Sky will take up the option to show all the live games that they can in season 2022/23.
