Opinion: End of season is time for Celtic to part ways with 30-year-old

James Forrest has to be considered as one of Celtic’s best players of the last 25 years. The winger has won a lot of trophies – 19 in total – and scored a lot of goals – 97 in total, and 97 assists too – in his decade plus career at Celtic Park.

However, through no fault of his own, it could be that Forrest’s best days are behind him, due to injury.

This season the 30-year-old has been limited to 29 appearances for the Hoops, making just 16 starts for the Hoops. That is a better total than last season at last, when the player made just 17 appearances, as he has had to deal with a series of injuries.

Those injuries have really had an impact on Forrest’s game, and he doesn’t look to be the player he was a few seasons ago, when he was probably the most important player in the side, who made the Hoops tick, and was deservedly named Scotland’s Player of the Year in 2019.

Forrest would be a very useful addition to most other teams in the Premiership, as he has had a fantastic career with the Hoops, and if he
