Opinion: Celtic boss is getting the financial backing he deserves

The Celtic board seem to be backing manager Ange Postecoglou this summer, if reports are to be believed.

The Daily Record reports that Jota is set to complete his permanent move to the Hoops ‘this week’, and Cameron Carter-Vickers has agreed terms with the Bhoys, who have three weeks to complete a deal with Tottenham to sign the centre-back on a permanent basis.

If the duo are signed permanently, the Bhoys will likely have to pay over £12m to get the deals done, and that shows that Postecoglou is being backed by those in charge at Celtic.

The manager has shown though that he deserves to be backed, as in his first season at the club he has down all that has been asked of him, winning the league title and getting the club back into the Champions League group stages.

It is not often that the Celtic board will be praised, but they deserve credit for not only appointing Postecoglou, but backing him from the moment he arrived in Glasgow from Australia.

There won’t be as many players signed as there was last summer, when Postecoglou had to almost build a new team in one window, this time he can be more selective about the players that come into the club.

Hopefully the outcome is the same as in the summer though, that the Hoops board sign the players that Postecoglou wants.
