One winner and one loser at West Brom if they sign up 27-year-old on a free

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Bruce will be keen to stamp his own authority on the club’s squad this summer ahead of his first full season in charge at The Hawthorns.

With the transfer window set to open next month, the Baggies have unsurprisingly already been linked with moves for a number of players.

One of the individuals who has recently emerged as a potential target for West Brom is Joe Rothwell.

According to The Telegraph journalist John Percy, the Baggies are interested in signing the midfielder who is set to become a free-agent when his contract at Blackburn Rovers expires in June.

Providing that West Brom are able to convince Rothwell to make the move to The Hawthorns, this particular deal could have a knock-on effect on some of the club’s existing players.

Here, we have decided to take a look at one winner and one loser at West Brom if they sign the 27-year-old on a free transfer…

Winner: Daryl Dike

Signed by West Brom in the January transfer window, Daryl Dike would have been hoping to help the club launch a push for the play-offs during the second half of the season.

However, the forward suffered a serious hamstring injury in his second appearance for the Baggies which ended his involvement for the 2021/22 campaign.

Dike could potentially benefit from Rothwell’s abundance of creativity later this year if the midfielder makes the switch to West Brom.

In the 41 league games that he played for Blackburn last season, Rothwell provided an impressive total of 10 assists for his team-mates.

By building up an understanding with the midfielder over pre-season, Dike may be able to help West Brom move forward as a club by finding the back of the net on a regular basis.

Loser: Jake Livermore
