"One I could see happening" – Journalist tips Leeds move for 21-goal ace who "has everything"

Leeds signing PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo would “make sense”, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Jesse Marsch is looking to bolster his attacking ranks and has identified the £27m-rated attacker as a potential summer addition.

With severe speculation surrounding Raphinha’s future, Leeds are lining up Gakpo as a replacement for the Brazilian.

According to Foot Mercato, Marsch is interested in linking up with the 23-year-old attacker, who’s off the back of an exceptional season in Holland.

In 46 appearances across all competitions, Gakpo, described by ex-Dutch international Theo Janssen as having ‘everything‘, scored 21 goals and laid on 15 assists for PSV.

Gakpo has the ability to come in off both flanks, but with the winger being naturally right-footed, he could prove the perfect replacement for Raphinha, which is why Taylor reckons he might be a natural fit at Leeds.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “There’s plates spinning at the moment. It looks like an offer has been rejected for Otavio from Porto, and Cody Gakpois is obviously the other one who’s cropped up in the last few days.

“Stylistically, that one would really make sense and one I could see happening.”

In terms of attacking output, while the difference between a team challenging for the title and one battling against relegation must be considered, the PSV man outperformed Raphinha in nearly every department.

Gakpo might have scored just one more goal in the league, albeit in eight appearances fewer, but he contributed 12 assists, while the Leeds star set up just three goals for his teammates.
