"One guy I speak to at West Ham..." - Journalist now drops exciting transfer update

West Ham United target Jesse Lingard has ‘made his decision’ over where he will ply his trade next season, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Lingard is a free agent after his contract with boyhood club Manchester United expired at the end of last month and could be set to re-join the Hammers this summer.

Back in June, Sky Sports revealed that West Ham had ‘made an offer’ to the 29-year-old’s representatives following his successful loan spell in east London during the second half of 2020/21.

The likes of Newcastle United, AC Milan, AS Roma and Juventus were also credited with an interest in Lingard alongside several sides outside of Europe.

David Ornstein of The Athletic disclosed last week, though, that the attacking midfielder is set to turn down approaches from the MLS but is considering an option from Saudi Arabia, which would see him earn £10 million per year.

Ornstein also stated that Everton are ‘exploring the possibility’ of signing Lingard as they search for cheap ways to improve Frank Lampard’s squad.

The England international is said to be eager to be at a new club no later than Friday 22nd July, meaning a decision over his future is imminent.

Jones believes that West Ham are in pole position to sign Lingard, describing the signs as ‘really promising’.

He told GiveMeSport: “The signs have been really promising. I think he’s going to make a decision very soon. I think he’s made his decision, it’s just that they’re waiting to hear it.

“One guy I speak to at West Ham who usually gets very good information, he’s been getting quite excited about this one. Over the past week, he started talking about it a lot more without me even really pushing him on it.”

Lingard bagged nine goals and laid on a further five
