One-Day Cup Super Over: Magala's flames, Van der Dussen's gold and thrilling finishes

The One-Day Cup provided extremes of cricket that were non-competitive and exciting at the same time. There weren't any shocks to speak of, especially with most teams having their big players available.

Here's the Super Over from the first weekend of the tournament.

Is Sisanda Magala unfit? His performances say something else

As far as weekends in domestic cricket are concerned, it was an unforgettable one for the Lions pacer. Dropped from the national team because of fitness issues to being lazily run out when the Lions batted against the Warriors on Friday, he turned the tables with a scorching spell of 6/55.

It helped the Lions win by 166 runs, but his pace, hostility and movement were something to behold. He kicked down the top order and cleaned up the tail.

However, he wasn't done as on Sunday against Western Province where he shared a 102-run stand for the eighth-wicket with Rassie van der Dussen that allowed the Lions to set a total they nearly defended.

He made 57 and in the failed defence, took 3/37. Those are some performances.

Rassie van der Dussen's Midas touch for the Lions

Van der Dussen would have thought his talented Lions teammates would have given him some batting respite after a testing tour of  New Zealand.

There was no such luck as batting malfunctions saw him having to salvage the innings in both games. He gave his team something they defended with some ease against the Warriors (81) but narrowly failed against Western Province (67).

They're going to miss him as he's back with the national team this week for the Bangladesh series.
