One big-name Liverpool star 'will be gone' this summer

Transfer insider Dean Jones expects either Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

The pair have been hugely influential at Anfield in recent years, but one of them may be left looking for a new club in the coming months.

Eighteen months ago, it would have been almost unthinkable for Liverpool to sell Mane or Firmino, such was their importance to the team.

However, the emergence of Diogo Jota has seen Firmino have to settle for a place on the bench at times this term.

Furthermore, the Reds went out and bought Luis Diaz from Porto last month. The highly-rated 25-year-old favours cutting in from the left wing, and looks set to provide Mane with competition for his starting berth moving forward.

Alongside Mohamed Salah, Mane and Firmino have formed one of the finest front threes in the Premier League era under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.

Yet Liverpool have now strengthened in these positions, and Jones feels this is likely to lead to Mane or Firmino, who are both heading towards the final year of their respective contracts, being moved on.

Speaking about Liverpool’s attacking trio, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I don’t think all three of them will be there next season. I think Mane or Firmino will go. I think one of those two will be gone.”

Klopp will know that freshening up his side’s attack is necessary to prevent things from going stale, but Mane or Firmino would still be missed if they departed the club.
