Omonia boss Neil Lennon says he ‘knows Manchester United’s weaknesses’ after Europa League defeat

Neil Lennon says he ‘knows Manchester United’s weaknesses’ after his Omonia side were bravely beaten by the Premier League giants.

Manchester United news, exclusives and analysis

Omonia, currently fourth in the Cypriot First Division, threatened to stun Erik ten Hag’s United after going ahead against the run of play.

Manchester United hit back after the break with three goals but Omonia kept the visitors honest with a late goal themselves.

Lennon was proud of Omonia’s performance in the Europa League clash and admits he ‘didn’t expect’ his side to put two goals past one of the most successful clubs in history.

The former Celtic boss is excited to visit Old Trafford next week and says the minnows will give it their all, especially after seeing United’s ‘weaknesses’ in the 3-2 defeat.

‘We rode our luck a lot of times but we kept ourselves in the game with good goalkeeping and a lot of Man Utd missed chances,’ said Lennon, who took over at Omonia earlier in the year.

‘To be honest I didn’t expect us to score two goals!

‘It’s going to be a different game at Old Trafford, but we have seen them up close and know what their weaknesses are. We will, go there and give it everything we’ve got.’

Asked if any of his players will have regrets that they could not turn their lead into a positive result, Lennon added: ‘Some of the players will, yeah.

‘The first two goals we were too open at centre-half then Bruno misses the chance with the lob.
