Vice President of Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF), Azania Omo-Agege Siena, who became a director at Africa Boxing Confederation barely two months ago, has been elected as vice president of the Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC).   In a keenly contested election in Maputo, Mozambique, last week, Siena polled 11 votes, out of 13, to win the position. Gen. Ilunga Muyoyo from Congo Democratic Republic polled seven votes to become second vice president, while Botswanaian and Moroccan candidates had five and three votes respectively.

International Boxing Association (IBA) President, Umar Kremlev and AFBC President, Bertrand Mendouga, in their congratulatory messages at last week’s IBA extraordinary congress held Armenia, said they were not surprised at Omo-Agege Siena’s victory, saying he has paid his dues in the service of boxing.

Reacting to his victory, Omo-Agege Siena thanked NBF President, LT. Gen. Kenneth Minimah (rtd), for supporting his candidature, while dedicating the victory to Nigerian boxing.

He promised to use his new position to develop boxing in the country by ensuring that the referees, judges and coaches attend international courses, as well as strive to get them into AFBC committees. Omo-Agege Siena promised to ensure that some equipment donated by IBA president will arrive in Nigeria in December this year.
