Omar Berrada's start date as Manchester United CEO confirmed as Erik ten Hag made to wait

Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Omar Berrada as their new CEO, but Erik ten Hag will have to wait before he can get to work with his new boss.

Berrada's arrival at Old Trafford signals a change of focus at United as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group await for their partial stake in the club to be ratified. The club has confirmed that they will put "football and performance" at the heart of their focus going forward.

A statement confirming his appointment said: "The club is determined to put football and performance on the pitch back at the heart of everything we do. Omar’s appointment represents the first step on this journey."

And it has also been confirmed that Berrada will not be able to join United until the summer. Patrick Stewart will remain the interim chief executive having taken over from Arnold in November.

When Berrada starts at United, he is expected to report to Ineos sporting chief executive Jean-Claude Blanc, who will sit on the club's football board.

Berrada's arrival indicates that United are now planning for the future as they look towards competing for the biggest trophies again. Under pressure manager Erik ten Hag may now have to be patient for his future at the club to be decided until Berrada joins in the summer.
