Omar Berrada makes Man United announcement as new CEO starts work after transfer stance made clear

Omar Berrada has confirmed he has started work as CEO of Manchester United on Saturday.

The Moroccan has arrived at Old Trafford from Manchester City after serving a period of gardening leave following confirmation of his appointment in January. The 46-year-old is expected to report to Ineos sporting chief executive Jean-Claude Blanc.

Berrada succeeds Richard Arnold, who resigned from his role at Old Trafford in November 2023 but continued as a board member until he submitted his resignation on February 15 this year, after the deal with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos' investment in the club was finalised.

And Berrada has confirmed in a LinkedIn post that he has begun work at United as he looks to help improve the club's footballing and commercial operations.

Berrada's arrival signals a change of focus at the club as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos group look to make United contenders for the biggest trophies again. In Barcelona in June, Berrada highlighted the importance of establishing a new structure at United as well as not overspending in the transfer market.
