Olympics latest: Irish runners miss out 1500m semi-finals, Irish riders hoping for medals

Athletics and equestrian events are the main focus for Team Ireland this morning at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Sophie O'Sullivan and Sarah Healy both came seventh in their respective heats in the 1500m earlier.

O'Sullivan recorded a personal best time of 4.23.

They will go in the repechage on Wednesday morning.

Next, Sharlene Mawdsley and Sophie Becker will get another chance to join Rhasidat Adeleke in the 400-metre semi-finals.

They go in the repechage at around 10:20am Irish time.

Medals are on offer for the Irish equestrian team in the final of the individual showjumping event.

Shane Sweetnam and Daniel Coyle both recorded clear rounds in their qualification round on Monday.
