Olympic 800m hero Keely Hodgkinson celebrates gold medal until 2am in Paris - after ending Team GB 12-year wait

Keely Hodgkinson enjoyed a well deserved celebration, partying until 2am in a Paris bar after winning a gold medal in the women's 800m final at the Stade de France.

The 2- year-old put in a dominant performance to win Team GB's first athletic gold medal of the Paris Olympic Games and their 12th athletics medal so far. She stormed to the finish line in a impressive final sprint, finishing in a time of one minute 56.72 seconds, faster than her semi-final time, and ending Team GB women's athletics gold medal drought.

She is the first British women to win the 800m event since Dame Kelly Holmes claimed gold in Athens 2004. Hodgkinson also ended another long wait of a female Team GB track and field champion, with the last being Jessica Ennis-Hill winning gold in London 2012.

Other members of the celebrating group had Union Jacks wrapped around themselves, as they partied on the bar's terrace, while a jubilant Hodgkinson happily took pictures with her supporters.

She spent around two hours at the bar, with dad Dean and coach Trevor Painter staying close to her, before returning home when the bar closed at 2am, while the rest of her group continued on
