Oli McBurnie to Rangers may already have answer as Sheffield United star hypes up his personal 'no brainer'

Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie has dropped a major hint on his future amid speculation over a free switch to Rangers at the end of the campaign.

McBurnie has emerged as a key player under Paul Heckingbottom's having fired the club to promotion from the English Championship last term and has been a regular in the Premier League this term as the Blades battle for survival. But with the Scotland cap yet to find his shooting boots in the English top flight with just one goal to his name speculation has ramped up that he will be allowed to leave Bramall Lane this summer at the end of his contract.

The 27-year-old is free to speak to clubs from January and speculation is swirling south of the border that the Rangers fan could make a move to the Scottish Premiership side at the end of the campaign. But McBurnie has revealed his preference would be to remain with his current club next term - but it remains to be seen if United will be keen to keep the frontman.

Asked by the the Sheffield Star if he would like to remain at the Blades beyond the end of his current deal, he said: "Definitely. You know how happy I am here and I'm settled back up north. Being around it, I get on well with the fans and the staff and all the boys. I love it here so yes, it's a no-brainer."

Back in 2021 it was reported that McBurnie was a target for the Ibrox side in Steven Gerrard's reign as manager. It remains to be seen if Philippe Clement will follow a similar path.
