Oli McBurnie's goal drought addressed amid mounting pressure over his Sheffield United form

Paul Heckingbottom insists the goals will come for striker Oli McBurnie amid increasing pressure from supporters.

The £20m striker has found the net just seven times in 80 league appearances since arriving from Swansea in 2019, and scored just two in all competitions in his last 48 appearances.

It's also 33 league games since he last found the net against Leicester in the Premier League and the 25-year-old is starting to come under fire from the Sheffield United faithful.

Manager Paul Heckingbottom has again leapt to his defence today as he looked ahead to Friday's match against Nottingham Forest and says the only way he will end that barren run is by being on the pitch.

He is confident he can fire himself back into form, but also offered a warning that the Blades boss will not keep him on for the sake of it.

"It's game time, get him on the pitch and he'll score goals. His record suggests that," Heckingbottom said.

"We all know that, we have all seen him do it.

"But I can't just leave him on the pitch for him to score goals. He's got a role to play and he's done great. He has had chances and if he had taken them we'd be talking about something totally different, but he's not.

"I'm not concerned about him. I'm not concerned about that I see him every day and what he's doing.

"There's only one thing he can do, which is knuckle down, work hard to get on the pitch and keep fighting and fighting for those chances and when one comes one will drop and who knows what will happen then.

"No one is aware of that as much as Oli.

"When we drew against Hull at home he was beating himself up over it, but we were happy with a lot of things he did and some of the chances that he had only he would have got on the end of. I'm thinking
