Paul Heckingbottom confirms two fresh major doubts for Sheffield United's trip to Blackpool

Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed that John Fleck and Ben Davies are major doubts for his side's trip to Blackpool on Wednesday night.

The Blades are looking to bounce back from Saturday's 4-1 defeat at Coventry City but could once again be without Fleck and Davies, who picked up knocks in the win over Middlesbrough.

It was a result that saw the Blades drop down to sixth after Queens Park Rangers' victory over Luton Town and they will be keen to return to winning ways when they travel to Lancashire.

When asked about whether Fleck and Davies have a chance to make the game, Heckingbottom said: "Probably not. It's easier to go through who we have got.

"Over 50% of our first-team outfielders are injured, so not much change. Them two aren't far away, Flecky didn't train with us today. I've not spoken to Steve afterwards but the plan was to try and get them in and around training tomorrow.

"We'll have to wait and see, but again, because how light we are, I just don't see us risking it. We can't afford more players out. You see our bench, we can't afford anymore out so we have to be cautious."

Oliver McBurnie is another player who could miss out after suffering a dead leg in the defeat at the Coventry Building Society Arena and Heckingbottom has claimed he is 'struggling'. Charlie Goode will also be out for a couple of weeks after sustaining a knee issue.

He added: "It's a dead leg. He's struggling today, he was desperate not to come off but he was struggling all over the pitch.

"But to protect him further down the line, he had to come off and we needed to get some energy on and someone who was going to run about. He's sore with it today but you never know how they react.
